We

We need your brain.
Every Thursday,
right after morning carpool,
a bunch of parents and Janice and Abbe meet to
brainstorm about getting succulent items for the
Gala.
We also fold, stuff,
chat, drink coffee, laugh
and do whatever work needs to be done that week.
We need more brains,
and more hands.
It doesn't matter if you haven't been to a 'meeting'
before -
just show up and lend us your brain and your hands for
an hour or so -
You might just
have fun and meet new people!
THURSDAY MORNINGS
- 8:15 - IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM.

Classroom totals will be posted on the chart at the
front desk. The class that collects the most boxtops before
February 26 will get a "Box of Fun" - a box full of
SURPRISES for the students!

Innocents Helping
Innocents
A couple of weeks ago, the
fourth grade girls decided they wanted to do a service project, and
they picked raising money for The Home of the Innocents.
Many of the girls participate
in cheerleading, so they decided to sell pom poms at the
Homecoming game for one dollar. They raised $54.67 at the
game! The PTO agreed to match whatever amount they could raise,
so the girls will be sending The Home of the Innocents a check for
$109.34!
What a nice thing to do - way
to go, girls!

Walk In My Shoes
Walk in your child's shoes - for one hour.
A 'Walk In My Shoes' is a fun and moving
presentation designed to help parents, family members and our
community to better understand the challenges facing children
with learning differences.
This is a free presentation, not a
fundraiser. Bring your family, friends, pastor,
dentist - whoever might be interested in our mission! We
will do learning disability simulations, hear what other
parents have to say about Summit
Academy,
and have a brief tour of the school.

Quips & Quotes
. .
. it's good to have a plan
1st grade student to teacher:
"I'm going to invite you to my birthday party when
I'm sixteen. It's going to be at my apartment that I'm
going to buy, and when I turn sixteen, I'm going to change my name to
Elvis.

Going Green Facts & Tips:
You might not be able to see it, and it may sound more
like some looming threat in a Star Trek episode than mundane daily
electrical drain-but phantom energy is a very real hazard to both
the environment and your electricity bill.
Phantom energy is the way electronic
devices use up power when they're plugged in, even if they're turned
off. This happens with just about every device in your home:
everything from household appliances like coffeemakers and toasters
to cell phone chargers and TVs are sucking up energy each and every minute their
cords stay in the outlet!
