The Penny
Wrangle Results!
Summit Academy students, families and
staff are amazing!
After
adding up all the pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and paper money
- your generosity has raised
$2,153.40!!
The
Student Council has decided to donate $718.40 to Hand In Hand Ministries,
who, through their "Supplies Overseas" program, is sending over
$25,000 of medical supplies to Haiti,
for the victims of the earthquake, and $1,435.60 to the Red Cross for Haiti.
Thank
you to Mr. Bryant who came up with this great idea for Haiti
donations, to everyone who donated and to the Student Council who
spearheaded the drive.

Summit Academy
Is
A NO-CUSSING Zone
Please reinforce a message that we
are presenting to our students 4th grade and older:
- They are role models for
our younger students.
- It is NOT OK to use curse words, foul language,
or inappropriate phrases in school, even if the teacher can't
hear them.
(What the ______? or,
WTF?, "Yeah, that's what she
said" as examples)
If a teacher hears a student using bad
language, he or she will receive a warning. The second
time, he or she will lose recess for one week, and the parents
will be notified.
This has become a particular problem
during lunch and recess, when younger students hear and imitate their
older friends. Thank you for your support in this.

also applies to Tree House Before and After School Care.
Here's the

Students may not use cell phones
during school hours.
Cell phones must remain in a
student's backpack or locker until after school hours or the phone may be
confiscated by staff.
If other electronic devices are
brought to school and present a distraction, they may also be confiscated
at the discretion of the staff.
The school is not responsible for any
personal belongings brought to school.

Walk In My Shoes
Walk in your child's shoes - for one hour.
A 'Walk In My Shoes' is a fun and moving
presentation designed to help parents, family members and our
community to better understand the challenges facing children with
learning differences.
This is a free presentation, not a fundraiser.
Bring your family, friends, pastor, dentist -
whoever might be interested in our mission! We will
do learning disability simulations, hear what other parents
have to say about Summit
Academy,
and have a brief tour of the school.
